#269 How To Find Your Perfect Bed

#269 How To Find Your Perfect Bed

Most people spend approximately a third of their lives in bed, so it’s absolutely essential that you find the perfect bed for you. It is recommended that adults have 8 hours of sleep every day, and you want to make sure you’re spending those precious 8 hours in comfort.

image002Studies show that for most people beds last about 10 years, so it’s important that you buy the right one. With such a long-term investment you need to make sure you find something that lasts and is completely perfect for you. Below is a guide to some of the important things that will help you find the perfect bed.

Size

There are a few things to consider when thinking about the size of bed you want. Firstly, you need to think about the size of the room that it will go in. There’s no point buying a king size bed when your room will only fit a single! That would only waste time and money.

Although, if there’s room it’s always best to go with the biggest bed that will fit. The bigger the bed the more room you, and possibly your partner, have to move around in the night without falling out or disturbing each other.

Specific Needs

You should also consider what specific needs you or your partner has. While you may just want to go with a standard bed, today there are many beds with special features that can really help health problems. For example, if you have back problems you may want to buy a bed that can move up and down and is designed specifically to offer maximum support.

Although it is not essential that you choose a specialist bed, it is definitely something you should consider when searching for the perfect bed for you.

Comfort

image003The comfort level of the bed could be considered as the most important factor to think about in order to find the perfect bed. When thinking about which one you should buy, you should lay on the bed for at least 10 minutes.

Although that might seem like a long time, it is the perfect amount of time for you to figure out if the bed is too soft, too hard or just right. You can also ask yourself if the bed moulds to the shape of your body and whether it is comfortable enough for you.

If the bed is for you and a partner it is also a good idea to go shopping together. You need to find something that is comfortable for both of you. You don’t want to get home and find that although it’s the perfect bed for you… it isn’t comfortable for your partner. One more helpful tip is not to go bed shopping when you’re tired; whatever bed you try will be comfortable when you’re overly tired!

Mattress

The mattress is the heart of the bed and choosing a good mattress is really the secret to getting a good night’s sleep. But mattress preference is a very personal thing and depends on how you sleep.

For example, if you like to sleep on your front, you will most likely prefer a soft mattress. However, if you sleep on your back you might want something a little more firm. The best way to find out what mattress you want is by trying them out. There is no ‘correct’ bed as everybody has different preferences; to find the perfect bed for you; you simply have to try out the various mattresses.

Durability and a Guarantee

As previously mentioned, people usually keep beds for approximately 10 years, which is a very long time. It’s therefore important to ask about whether the company you buy a bed from offers a guarantee.

There are a few indicators that you can use to help identify whether the bed will be durable or not. For example, check the corners and connectors on the bed frame to ensure that they are welded or fitted together well.

Conclusion

There is no universal ‘perfect bed’ as it is a very subjective thing. To ensure you find the perfect bed for you, simply follow the advice and tips given above.
